He died in Tokyo at 78 on Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto, who became famous, as well as being one of the first designers of his country to parade in Europe, especially for his collaboration with David Bowie. He designed costumes for him tour by Ziggy Stardust, a character inspired by a Japanese legend that described the relationship between a divinity and an intense white rabbit.
One of the pieces in this series is the "Tokyo Pop" suit: adhering to the bust, it rounded off at the sides in the form of a semicircle and was characterized by a concentric striped decoration. Bowie wore it with the red mop and makeup glam rock: gloss on the lips, iridescent eyeshadow and a circle of golden glitter on the forehead. The shots, now very famous, of the singer with the creations of Yamamoto are by another Japanese: the master Masayoshi Sukita, and a book has recently been dedicated to these images.
In the 80s and 90s Kansai Yamamoto was known for the two show-shows: he called them "super shows" and they were much more than just fashion shows. He made them debut in Europe, and then take them "on tour", so to speak, in Asian countries.
Kansai Yamamoto passed away on July 22, but the news was delayed a few days later daughter Mirai, which reminded everyone on his Instagram profile.
