The 8th day of Navratri, also known as Durga Asthami, is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri. A four-armed and powerful deity, Goddess Mahagauri rides on the bull or a white elephant. She holds the Trishul and the damru in her hands. Many devotees believe that by donating coconuts to the worshippers of the deity or the Brahmans on the day of Asthami, couples who do not have a child yet can seek blessings for a child. To celebrate Asthami, devotees across the country prepare halwa, kala chana and puri. Here, I have prepared the kala chana sundal recipe. Check out the full recipe below:
Ingredients:-
- 1 cup soaked and boil kala chana
- 1/4 cup fresh grated coconut
- 1 tbs urad daal
- 1 tsp jeera
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1 tbs oil
- 1 tsp Lime juice
- Salt
- 1 green chillies
Method:-
- In a pan heat the oil
- Add jeera, urad daal, curry leaves, saute them for 1 minute
- Now add green chillies, and black chana chana, salt, mix it well
- Now add grated coconut, mix well,
- switch off the flame
- Now add lime juice mix it well
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Black chana sundal is ready for bhog
