Kabuki

I’ve been celebrating my birthday for about two weeks, which means I’ve gone going out to eat often. Not to mention that those “Happy Birthday” reward benefits encourage me. C & I love sushi and we always enjoy our meals at Kabuki.

Kabuki is a chain of Japanese restaurants serving both traditional and contemporary fare and has been serving Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada for the past 19 years. The restaurant is affordable Japanese cuisine with a hip style.

When looking at the menus, we noticed there had been some changes, so we decided to try something different. We usually order two to three sushi rolls and a combination entrée, which consist of chicken teriyaki with shrimp and vegetable tempura, soup, salad and rice. It is delicious! However, this time we went with one sushi roll and pastas.

Dynamite Roll $8.95

The Dynamite Roll is one of my favorites at Kabuki. It is baked vegetables, krab and scallops on top of California roll.

Spicy Seafood Udon Pasta $15.95

The Spicy Seafood Udon Pasta was completely new to me. Udon pasta is a type of thick wheat flour noodle of Japanese cuisine. I have never eaten this type of pasta, but I honestly loved the texture. Although, my plate was meant to be spicy, I asked them to keep that ingredient out. This dish consists of shrimp, jumpo scallop, calamari and mussels sauteed with udon noodles.

Uniudon Pasta $16.95

The Uniudon Pasta was a tasty yet simple dish. The waitress said it was like their “fettuccine alfredo.” The dish consisted of creamy udon noodles with chopped garlic and fresh sea urchin.

Although this time around I did not order a dessert, I enjoy their Banana Tempura, which is lightly fried banana pieces with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Sometimes I visit Kabuki simply for the intention of enjoying the dessert, but of course I end up ordering sushi rolls.

What makes Kabuki even more intriguing is their frequent diner program, The Red Mask Club, to earn points and get rewarded for dining. Since May is my birthday month, I received a $15 credit. I’ve been treated many times and love their program. Will you be visiting?
