Posted on the 20 November 2018 by Themoviean

Kabir Singh Chowdhry's debut feature film 'Mehsampur' doesn't belong to any specific genre.

Mehsampur is a concoction of fiction and documentary-styled craftmanship. It is also a film in a film, and 'ALSO' the film is also a sort of biopic on Amar Singh Chamkila, the iconic Punjabi folk singer who was shot down at the age of 27 back in 1988.
The film cast includes Lal Chand, Devrath Joshi, Navjot Randhawa, Jagjeet Sandhu, Surinder Sonia. Lal Chand, Surinder Sonia survived the assassination and are real-life associates of Chamkila and are playing themselves in the film. Devrath Joshi is another character playing himself in the film, he is making the film within the film.
