K-Wave in India: Indo-Korean Friendship Park & Korean Hindi Channel

By Dr.jenifer Sayyed @SayyedJenifer

Hallyu or Korean wave has taken the world by storm including our country, India.  It is literally everywhere, with all the hit Korean dramas and K-pop songs sweeping over the world and transcending borders.

I can see people around me now watching K-dramas, K-pop, and using K-beauty products which was not the scenario a few years before.  Due to the raising popularity and the demand, many new shops dedicated to Korean items have been opened.

There is a huge growing audience and influencer & blogger like me who loves Korea is sharing their views, reviews in our profile & blog.

Now let me tell you about the two main things about Korea in India.

Korean Hindi Channel

K-wave rising popularity is the reason that now we have a Korean Hindi channel where we can watch our favorite Korean shows in our national language- Hindi. The channel was started last year itself and now it seems many others are coming soon. So amazing, isn’t it?

We can watch our favorite K-dramas with our family together and enjoy them. Currently, many good shows are going on and you can tune in to watch them.

The channel name is Korean Drama Active which is available on Dish TV. Although I prefer watching Korean dramas in Korean, having a Hindi dubbed Korean show is a good option esp if you are living with family as everyone of all age groups can watch it.

Netflix is dubbing many korean dramas in hindi to attract viewers. Recently, I watched Extraordinary Woo again in hindi and the dubbing artist did a fabulous job.

This channel broadcasts K-Pop too, so we get double entertainment.

How K-dramas made me fall in love with Korea?

K-Pop, one of the most popular music genres in the world today has a huge fan following in India.

In my society, kids as young as 9-10 years are a fan of K-pop and follow them ardently. So the coming generation will be captivated by the K-world.

It’s fun to see the kid’s enthusiasm towards learning K-culture.  They make Korean love sign when they meet me, how cute is that?

The craze of K-Pop and everything related to Korea (K-Wave) is growing with each passing day.

Indo-Korean Friendship Park

On Mar 2021, India’s First Indo-Korean Friendship Park was inaugurated by Mr. Suh Wook, Honourable Minister of National Defence, South Korea, and Sri Rajnath Singh, Honourable Raksha Mantri, in Delhi, the capital of India.

This park glorifies Indo-Korean friendship and to signify India’s contribution to Korean War 1950-53.

Can you see the magnificent handshake artifact with flags of India & South Korea? Wow, am so proud and happy as an Indian because not only do I love Korea but even my country’s people and organizations love and have friendly relations with Korea. I wish our friendship bond grows stronger with time and together we achieve much recognition.

This park entrance gate is made in traditional Korean style and has a jogging area, garden, and an amphitheater surrounded by lush greenery.

The park also has a large statue of an Indian soldier who played a pivotal role in the Korean War. You can find other information related to the war and the stories of the brave Indian Army soldiers that took part.

K-Wave in India is the result of a long & fruitful partnership between South Korea and India. It has seen tremendous growth over the years and there’s no stopping to it now.
