As one of the JustHost customers, I first experienced this network outage on some of my websites (including this one – Jugotech.com) at around noon. I think Jugotech.com and two other websites in my blog network are hosted on JustHost servers than the affected ones.
My websites have been going offline frequently throughout today while others have completely gone offline. I initially thought that my websites have been attacked until I found that JustHost’s own website is also offline.
It was an unexpected network outage and when I went on Twitter to tweet about it, I discovered that JustHost and the other affected webhosting companies are already trending on the social media.
I later found out that some of these affected hosting companies are actually related in one way of the others. But what could have been the reason for this worldwide network outage?
Angry Customers @ JustHost, DreamHost, Bluehost, HostGator And HostMonster
If you host your website on JustHost, Dreamhost, Bluehost, HostMonster or HostGator, then it’s likely that your site will be down or experiencing issues.
So what do all these affected hosting companies have in common? According to the information within my disposal, it seems that these hosting brands are all divisions of Endurance International Group.
So if all these hosting brands are own by one company, then there is a possibility that they all have access to a single data center. “The outage appears to be related to server maintenance at the Provo, Utah, data centre”, according to the information provided on Mashable.com.
Most of the affected customers seem to be really angry if their responses on Twitter are to be taking serious. Most customers on social media are angry because of the fact that there’s no official statement from the likes of JustHost as into why there is a network outage.
Excellent Customer Supports???
Most of the customers of the affected brands are not happy because of the fact that the responses to their questions ‘re somehow unconvincing.
JustHost customers are particularly not happy because the company’s website is offline, the phone line is also offline. Customers on Twitter are not getting enough information.
But unlike JustHost, Bluehost and HostMoster are especially doing their best to calm their customers down. According to the Bluehost and HostMonster Twitter accounts, maintenance caused additional problems.
@horowitzagency Unanticipated additional issues are occurring. We are continuing to update as more info comes in.— Bluehost (@bluehost) August 2, 2013
Although HostGator and Bluehost (two brands that used to operate under the same company) do not have a dedicated page setup for system status, HostGator has created a forum thread providing information on the system outage.
Bluehost and HostMonster report that their phones are overloaded with calls and that the company is doing everything it can to get its sites back online.
Are you experiencing downtime with Bluehost, HostGator or HostMonster? Let us know in the comments.
So How Reliable Is JustHost And Other Affected Brands?
With my experience so far, I will still say that JustHost is a reliable webhosting company. I can’t really say much about other brands such as DreamHost, Bluehost, HostGator and HostMonster.
But the fact that I have been with JustHost for quite long, I should be able to know whether their services are reliable or not.
