As a mostly stay-at-home-mom, my adult conversation is sometimes limited. And because we've all been so bummed about Z deploying, I decided to throw Nolan and his friends a little party! "Is it my birthday, mommy?" Nope...having a party just because! (I'll collect my cool mom points down the road...)
As a military wife, you share a special bond with the people you meet. Being away from family causes you to develop special relationships with friends very quickly; they become your second family and understand the trials and tribulations of military life. We invited all of our friends who fit this mold and luckily, there are quite a few of them. Nolan could hardly wait for all of his friends to arrive and didn't know what to do with himself when they were all here under one roof!
I filled this trunk with dress-up costumes; from Army guys to pop stars, the kids had their choice in what they wanted to be! And of course all our princesses and super heroes needed fuel to save the world, so I provided lunch for all of the littles.
Nolan had been eyeing this new Elmo for days and couldn't wait to bust him out of his packaging. Not going to lie, Elmo seemed to be the hit of the party! He comes with three different hats and depending on which hat he's wearing, he says/does different things!
The kids also wore crowns and other hats to match the different hats Elmo can change as well. Some of his friends wanted to be a Princess, Police Officer, and Batman when they grow up! (Of course my kid said he wanted to be Batman...#notshocked)
Each little friend also got to take home a new Playskool toy; a Stack' n' Spin Monkey Gears or Transformers Mixable Mashable Heroes. I loved spending time with my friends while the kids spent time with theirs. Socializing and using their imaginations are so important at this age and it was fun to throw a party "just because".
I loved the "Just Imagine Elmo" and I highly suggest it to any moms that have an Elmo loving kid. Be sure to check it out here!
What kind of parties do you like to throw? Do you ever throw parties "just because"?
