Judge Confinement Case: New Bench Constituted to Hear Musharraf’s Bail Plea

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) Muhammad Anwar Khan on Wednesday constituted a special bench to hear the bail plea of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in judges’ confinement case following the segregation of the Justice Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui from the division bench.

The new two-member bench comprises Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan and will conduct the hearing of the bail plea of former military ruler on Thursday.

Earlier, the division bench consisting Justice Shuakat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan and was dissolved after former detached himself from the bench hearing the bail application of Pervez Musharraf.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Justice Shaukat announced to dissociate himself from the case due to the spiteful social media campaign against him after he cancelled the pre-arrest bail application of Musharraf.

Justice Riaz had requested IHC Chief Justice to formulate a new bench.
