Fast Fashion has fundamentally changed the way most Americans dress. Stores ranging from discounters like Target to traditional chains like JCPenney now offer the newest trends at unprecedentedly low prices. Retailers are producing clothes at enormous volumes in order to drive prices down and profits up, and they’ve turned clothing into a disposable good.
But what are we doing with all these cheap clothes? And more importantly, what are they doing to our society, our environment, and our economic well-being?
Joining us will also be our regular retail correspondent, retail expert Mercedes Gonzalez who will share her insider take on fast fashion, the effect it has had on the fashion industry, and how fast fashion may just be the thing itself that saves the industry from the perils of cheap clothes.
Of course, if you can’t tune in, the show is available on demand anytime after it airs and also is available as a Podcast and on Stitcher Radio.
