Joseph Christian “Jaws” Chestnut (born November 25, 1983) is an American competitive diner. The competitive 6 -foot (1.8 m) and 218 pounds (99 kg) competitive dining room is currently classified first in the world by the International Competitive Food Federation. He is a native of Vallejo, California, who currently resides in San José, California.

On July 4, 2007, Chestnut won the 92nd annual contest to eat hot dogs from Nathan, surpassing the six -time defense champion Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi consuming 66 hot dogs and buns (HDB) in 12 minutes, which established a new record world. The following year, he successfully defended his title by winning a dining room of 5 hot dogs after drawing Kobayashi in the consumption of 59 HDB in 10 minutes. On July 4, 2009, Chestnut surpassed Kobayashi again, consuming a new 68 HDB world record and winning his third consecutive title. On July 4, 2010, Chestnut took home his fourth consecutive mustard belt eating 54 HDB. The 2010 contest was a fugitive victory, since Kobayashi did not compete due to a contract dispute with the feeding of the major leagues. On July 4, 2011, he won the fifth consecutive championship with 62 HDB. 2012 marked his sixth consecutive victory, when Chestnut tied his own 2009 world record by devouring 68 HDB. In 2013, Chestnut captured the seventh consecutive title of him, eating a total of 69 HDB, breaking his previous world record.
