When Pearl and the Beard announced their final show last year, we were heartbroken (to put it lightly) — thankfully, though, Jocelyn Mackenzie has returned with new material, and “Kids” is quite a strong statement from the solo artist. Combining her old project’s lighthearted melodies and plucky demeanor with a more lush synth landscape, the track follows the ups and downs of falling in love both lyrically and instrumentally. Though the message may not be the most uplifting at times, the song’s playful harmonies and punchy synths and keys diminish any distressing emotions the track might describe. You can grab this track and others on her upcoming Unlovely EP and catch her out on tour with You Won’t next month!
