It was nice catching up with Jim, Lacey and the Ratt brothers. We are introduced to new characters too, including as Janus Blacktail, Philius Philonus, fairies, harpies, and a sea dragon. Count Cromier and his son, Bartholomew are back as nasty as ever to stop Jim in the beginning of the story. But with his friends he evades them and sets sale on his magical adventure to the magic island. Where luck, his friends and magic help him to have the best adventure. The story is intriguing and filled with magic and adventure you get pulled into the story very quickly and wont want to put it down. Like the first Jim Morgan book this one too might be more geared to the younger reader. But there is enough going on to keep anyone entertained and have them keep turning the page. If you like Pirates, villains, adventure, humor and the Sea then this book is for you
