“I have no idea how they found this song. I guess you can say it’s divine intervention.”
Considering True Blood typically uses songs that are the same name as the episode title so you could speculate two things about the use of this song. First – since the title is ‘Life Matters’ and the song is called ‘Why Did You Leave Me Now’, this could all be related to Terry Bellefleur‘s (Todd Lowe) funeral. The second thought is that someone else dies during the episode and the songs are related to that.
Rosenbaum is not a musician by trade but he has always had a love for music. ’Why Did You Leave Me Now’ was written after a dream about his father who had passed away 7 years earlier. His father visited him in a dream and while there was no verbal communication, he felt that his dad was communicating with him non-verbally. He woke up and went to his basement and composed the song.
This isn’t the first time that his song has been used. In December 2011, the song was included on an album released on iTunes by Liz Rodrigues. The album was entitled ‘Just a Dream’ which is definitely appropriate. CBC spoke to Rosenbaum about how his song came to be on the show and you can watch the interview below!
So Truebies what are your thoughts on the show using this song during the credits? Do you think the meaning behind the song and episode title is for Terry’s funeral, or will someone else die? Let us know in the comment section below and be sure to tune in Sunday night to see what happens!
