I always enjoy watching and photographing a new (to me) airshow performer. Here is Dell Collier performing at the 2022 Central Coast Airfest, pushing over the top and creating visible prop vortices in the process. Dell is the builder of this re-engineered/rebuilt 1929 Taperwing Jet Waco, also known as “Screaming Sasquatch”. The Jet Waco is powered by dual power plants: a Pratt & Whitney 985 radial engine and a General Electric J85 jet engine providing 3,000 lbs of thrust. Capable of speeds up to 250 mph, the Jet Waco also has a thrust ratio greater than 1.0, which allows it to accelerate going straight up.
