Israel in Canada

Six Incredible Acts, One Incredible Country
Israel is a country where east meets west and modern fuses with ancient. The result is a musical scene like no other where the sounds of the world merge on one stage to create beautiful, eclectic jazz. This summer, music lovers of Ottawa and beyond are in for an audible treat as the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival highlights six incredible acts to help celebrate sixty-six years of one incredible country.
From Latin American rhythm to Middle Eastern beats and from European folk to traditional Jewish music, each act reflects the diversity of Israel’s vibrant multicultural society. Catherine O’Grady, Executive Producer of the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, had the pleasure of experiencing this music first-hand when she visited Israel in November 2013 for a special showcase, “I was overwhelmed by the depth and breadth of musicianship that I experienced at the Jazz Festival in Israel,” said Catherine. “We are very proud and fortunate to have several of these consummate artists perform in Ottawa this summer.” This celebration of Israeli jazz is thanks to a special partnership between the Vered Israel Culture and Education Program and the Embassy of Israel.
