Hello friends,
Happy New Year! Looking back on January, I have only the fondest of memories. From time to bake and work on puzzles, to time with friends and post-holiday organization. We watched football, spent hours outside skiing with friends, and with Phoebe. She loves to visit icehouses while I ski. :)

A morning walk with friends, I’m loving XC skiing, crystals preparing for a big job (more on this in a separate post), and prep for next month’s Vikings and Goddesses dinner. January was an exceptional month! We only had a few too cold days that kept me inside.
I’m aware that I love winter more than most so I’m extremely grateful to friends for joining me outside. Early January I organized a morning winter walk with my book club. It was magical! A brisk morning with fresh snow. I loaded up the toboggan with hot tea, fresh banana bread, and blankets. We walked to the Loon’s Nest and enjoyed catching up on life.
January Reading Summary
This may be a first for me… I started five books, read two:
The Last Thing He Told Me (DAVE): 3 stars. I enjoy Laura Dave’s books. They are light, quick reads, even when a missing person is involved.
The Ballerinas (Kapelke-Dave): 2.5 stars. At one point I read a few Goodreads reviews to see if I missed something - most said the ending was worth it. It’s a slow-moving story with a bang at the end. Like most reviews, beautiful cover, average read.
I stopped reading The Migration (McConaghy) and The Therapist (Paris) but plan to finish them. Both half-read… paused for The Push (Audrain). Have you read any of these titles? They will likely be the three I read in February. :)
In closing, we have been planning Adult Winter Camp since last fall and are entering the last push for a fabulous winter weekend with friends. It coincides with two-weekend events on the lake, and Superbowl Sunday.
With love and gratitude, Mari
