Often reclusive singer Janet Jackson is ready to face the rumors about her separation from Qatari businessman husband, Wissam Al Mana, as well as share some good news with her fans.
The 50-year-old new mom posted a short video, a “message to her fans,” on Twitter Monday evening. Using that flattering “holding up your arm and shooting down with the camera” technique (not judging, as I’m guilty of doing it too), Janet joked that it was actually her, clarifying “it’s me, Jan — just in case you don’t recognize me, ’cause I have put on quite a few since I had the baby.” I don’t know about you, but the glow of motherhood has done wonders for Ms. Jackson.

Janet went on to gush about her three-month-old son, Eissa, first thanking God for her bundle of joy and moving quickly into proud Mama Bear mode, saying of her son, “He is so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving, such a happy baby.”
Sweet, right? The video then took a turn, as Janet confessed, “This message was supposed to be about something else, but I’ll get to that in a minute. I just want to keep it real with you guys for a second. Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God’s hands.”
This news doesn’t come as a real shocker, as reports surfaced in April that the pair split shortly after Eissa’s birth. Janet and Wissam were married in either December of 2011 or January of 2012 and reportedly split over cultural differences. The marriage may not have lasted, but Janet has a beautiful baby – and a possible $200 million payout from her prenup.
With mom and baby doing well, Janet is heading back out on the road. She began touring for her 11th album, Unbreakable, in August of 2015. The second leg of the tour was postponed in December of that year due to an undisclosed surgery and was again postponed in April 2016, due to “family planning.” On Monday, Janet officially announced that the tour was back on, saying, “I’m so excited, you guys, so excited. I decided to change the name of the tour — State of the World Tour. It’s not about politics, it’s about people, the world, relationships and just love.”
The newly dubbed State of the World tour resumes on September 7 in Lafayette, Louisiana and wraps up in Atlanta (yay) on December 17. Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 5. Feel free to leave those “Hammer pants” at home this time around, Janet.
As someone who hasn’t seen Janet live since the Rhythm Nation tour, and someone who didn’t have the funds to see her the last time she was here in Atlanta, I’m excited to see Janet hit the stage again. Splits suck, but she seems so happy as a mom. And wow, Eissa a cute kid. A few weeks ago, he made his social media debut in an Instagram post. Janet posted a photo of her son yawning while she was giving him a motherly kiss, captioning the shot, “My baby and me after nap time.” She must be a great Mom. As for her marriage, she said it best… that’s the way love goes.
