Jackson + Rye

56 Wardour Street, London, W1D 4JG. Tel. No.: 0207 437 8338. Book online at www.jacksonrye.com. Jackson + Rye is one of the much talked about US haunts that has "recently" opened up in London. Raved about everywhere in the blogosphere, it went straight onto my places to try list and I finally headed down to the Soho branch the other weekend before British Summertime for brunch.
One thing worth mentioning is that you should book for brunch sittings. Brunch on Wardour Street is no easy feat! Other guests at the time were being told there was a queue of about 70-90 minutes. We booked for 11:15 and it was bustling with a busy atmosphere.
Elodie and I both went for a classic latte to revive ourselves, as is standard on a Sunday. No latte art but a respectable coffee nonetheless! I then chose the Farmer's Eggs and Elodie went for the Angler's Eggs to refuel before a day at Hyde Park.
The Farmer's Eggs were spot on and exactly what I expected and wanted. Two generous slices of rye bread, eggs served sunny side up, a sausage, two sweetened-up bacon rashers and potatoes too. I loved the mix and clash of flavours and would happily eat it all day everyday! Elodie loved her Angler's Eggs too, although her toast was slightly burnt and tough to eat. She added a side of avocadoes which worked perfectly well. You can't deny yourself of avocadoes at brunch, right?
On a side note, I found the service to be fairly up and down in Jackson + Rye. Our waitress was attentive but it felt like she was quite stretched for the busy sitting and we waited a while to receive our bill (and we were in a rush!) as well as for the food to arrive. Definitely one to try if you have a few spare hours on your weekend morning!
Disclaimer: Not sponsored. I paid for and ate every crumb in this brunch.
