Jackson by Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash and June Carter were the cutest couple in music to ever walk this earth. I absolutely love them. I’m not really a country fan by any means but I don’t mind some of their music. I think it’s largely due to the 2005 movie, Walk the Line, which starred Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. They did a wonderful job portraying these music icons. If you don’t know much about these two, look for that movie because they both went down a long & tough road before ending up together. Once they did though, it brings tears to your eyes. My favorite part in the movie was at the end when Johnny proposed to June in the middle of singing Jackson in front of an audience. He had proposed to her several times before but she always said no. This time, however, she finally says yes.

Jackson was released in 1963 from the album, The Essential Johnny Cash. It was written by Jerry Leiber and Billy Edd Wheeler. The lyrics describe a relationship that is on its way out. Both the husband and wife want to go to Jackson – the husband wants to run wild and mess around, the wife thinks he’ll just make a fool of himself. She doesn’t really care though, she’ll be having fun around the town.
