Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash Whiskey Review

By Josh Peters @TheWhiskeyJug

The second, but most interesting entrant, into JD’s new Bonded line, is Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash Whiskey. And not just because it’s new, but because it reveals something interesting about Jack I didn’t know. They’ve been playing around with making American Single Malt for at least four years.

This Triple Mash is made by blending together bonded versions of the standard Jack Daniel’s, their Straight Rye and a bonded American Single Malt. This last component threw me for a second and I had to re-read it. I wasn’t expecting to see that, but it made me even more curious and excited to dig in. Especially seeing how much I enjoyed the Bonded.

Now, let’s get to drinkin’!

Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash Whiskey – Overall Thoughts and Score

Nuanced and complex… I’ve found the JD I would actually buy. And that’s not because it doesn’t taste or smell like JD, it does. The Jack Daniel’s essence isn’t lost, it’s easily found, it’s just coming through lighter and is a component of this interesting whole. Tasting this also now has me incredibly curious about their straight single malt.

I’ve tasted plenty of the regular Jack and plenty of their rye, which I kinda like, but the single malt is a new mystery. Though that mystery obviously still has that Jack signature on it and I’m curious about it as a stand-alone whiskey. But, getting back to the combined whole, I’m really digging this Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash Whiskey, it’s one I’m likely to keep around.

SCORE: 4/5 (good, definitely recommend ~ B+ | 87-89)
