It might be a few months until we step into summer, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start thinking about sculpting your perfect summer bikini body right now. After all, getting the body you want takes time. So, if you want to ensure that you look great in your summer clothes and turn heads on the beach, take a look at my tips for getting in shape for summer:
Change Your Diet
If you’re holding on to a few extra pounds and you want to be rid of them when summertime rolls, change your diet now. Cut out the junk food, up your fruit and vegetable intake. You should also eat smaller portions of the foods that cause you to gain weight.
If you want to get in shape by summer, you need to cut your calories and ensure everything you put into your body is doing you some good. So, you will have to cut out any sodas and sweetened drinks, switching them for water or unsweetened tea as soon as possible.
Set a Realistic Goal
At the time of writing, there is just under three months until the official start of summer, which means that there is only so much you can do to get fit and lose weight before the start of the season. You need to be realistic about what you can do. On a healthy diet and exercise regime, you could lose around 20 pounds before June 21st (maybe a bit more if you’re really good) so, set a goal that you can achieve, rather than trying to shave off 50 pounds in a couple of months, to avoid disappointment and the prospect of giving up when the scales don’t move as much as you would like.
Count Your Calories
The average woman should eat between 1200-1500 calories if she wants to lose 1-2 pounds a week. This should consist of mostly healthy foods with the odd treat thrown in. If you make the bulk of your meals vegetables, you can actually eat quite a lot of food for your calories.
Only Eat Real Foods
If you want to not only lose weight but also have glowing skin and healthy hair when summertime comes, you need to stick to healthy wholefoods. Ditch pre-packaged meals and stick to low-fat meats, grains, pulses, fruits, and vegetables. If you must eat bread and pasta, go for the wholemeal variety. Not only will these foods fill you up more, but they will give you all of the vitamins and minerals you need to maintain a healthy glow all over.
Eat Carbs
Many women think that going on a low-carb crash diet will give them the summer bikini body they long for and, although you can certainly lose a lot of weight on a low-carb diet, you probably won’t have the toned body you require. You see, losing weight so quickly does not give your body time to adjust and tone up, which can leave you looking skinny fat. It’s much better to eat a small amount of good carbs, such as steel cut oats and sweet potatoes, which will fuel your body and enable you to tone up with the addition of exercise.
Lift Weights
Don’t worry, lifting weights won’t make you look like a bodybuilder or Arnold Schwarzenegger in a wig. It’ll just give you a much smaller, toned figure that will look brilliant in a bikini. Train three times a week from now until summer, and you could see huge changes in your body shape and the amount of excess fat you are carrying. If you are interested in lifting weights, read this for a guide to weightlifting for women first. It will help you avoid injuring yourself when taking up the exercise.
Consider a Bikini Body Workout
Let’s face it, we all want to look good in a bikini, right? So, naturally a bikini body workout is the way to go, but only if you choose one that really works. There are so many bikini body guides available that it can be difficult to know where to start, and if you choose wrong, you won’t see real results. So, if you want to try a bikini body workout, bbg review before you go ahead and waste time and money on a plan that simply won’t work. You owe it to yourself to do the research to get the body you want.
Do Burpees
Burpees. Just the very mention of the word is enough to strike fear into the heart of women across the country, but the thing is, they’re really effective at burning fat and toning every muscle in the body. If you can bring yourself to do a few sets of burpees every day from now until summer, you’ll be able to squeeze into the perfect bikini and make a great impression on the beach, guaranteed.
Body Brush
Doing all of the above will surely help you to lose weight and tone up in time for summer, but it won’t do much to help you with other bikini-blocking problems like cellulite. Luckily, there is a simple solution for that. Invest in a natural boar hair body brush and dry brush your whole body before bathing. When you’re done, moisturize with coconut oil or shea butter, and you’ll soon see an improvement in the amount of cellulite you see.
Get a Tan
Getting a spray tan is a great way to cover up and uneven skin and mask scars and stretchmarks. It is also great at highlighting muscle definition and given your skin a healthy glow. If you’ve put the hard work in, but you’re still afraid to bare your body on the beach, a spray tan could give you the confidence boost you need. Just remember to keep it subtle – you don’t want to look like Ross from Friends!
Book a Wax
If you’re not the type who’s happy to show off your hairy legs in public, then you’re going to want to finish off your summer body transformation with a wax. You can do your own wax at home, but if you want a full body wax, it’s usually easier and more effective to visit a professional who will be able to deal with all of those hard to reach areas that you might have trouble waxing yourself.
Of course, the best way to have a summer –ready body and enjoy your time in the sun is to embrace your body and love yourself no matter what. If you can do that, you’ll always be beach ready and you’ll have a much better time all year round, as a result.
