It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

I’m putting this post up a bit early because I have a post drafted for tomorrow that will link to a blog hop. The assignment is to write about how I met my significant other — I managed to turn it into a bit of a Christmas post, too.

Folks enjoyed the sunlit arches I posted yesterday: Mildred Cooper Chapel — Saturday Snapshots.

I was honored to be featured in the Where My Ladyz At? Strong Women Campaign.

I’m still looking for advice and suggestions about milling grain into flour or, more generally, how to make a decision on something that I’ve been sitting on forever: Book Review: Flour Power by Marleeta F. Basey.

We had a busy gathering at Readers’ Workouts with lots of discussion about how to modify video workouts to suit our own needs: Readers’ Workouts — November 27. Watch for a new link list on Tuesday — and join us!

Read

I finished The Ghost Knight by Cornelia Funke and really enjoyed it,  mostly due to the setting in Salisbury, England where I hope to visit in a year or two. Thanks to Matt of Salisbury and Stonehenge for the recommendation in the comments to this post: Book Review: Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd.

Reading

My fun book right now is From Notting Hill with Love…Actually by Ali McNamara. This has been on my TBR for nearly two years, since Michelle reviewed it on Fluttering Butterflies: REVIEW: From Notting Hill With Love … Actually by Ali McNamara. But I didn’t find an easy way to get my hands on a copy. Catherine at Vintage Frills mentioned this book in her Monday post last week, so I took another check of the local library catalogs and discovered that a US edition has just been published.

For lunch time reading, I’m currently reading Culinary Intelligence by Peter Kaminsky. In the genre of responsible and healthy eating books, Michael Pollan wrote as a journalist and gardener in In Defense of Food, Mark Bittman wrote as a cook in Food Matters, and Marion Nelson wrote as a nutritionist in What to Eat. Peter Kaminsky tackles the issue as a food critic. It’s great to know that a true appreciation for good food can lead you to the same places as those other books.

Will Read

I just requested a bunch of books from the library about the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms period of English history, so I’ll probably select something from that stack for my next book.

It’s Monday! What Are Your Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila of Book Journey. Be sure to check out her post today to see her selections and the list of links to all the other participating bloggers.
