It Looks Sad. – Radical SoundCloud

North Carolina’s It Looks Sad. manages to produce an ironically happy combination of sounds: a bit of pop, a clear taste of post-punk, a splash of emo and even a hint of indie-rock. These influences come together in the beautiful, controlled madness of “Radical”, the first single off their up-coming, self-titled debut. With noticeable sounds reminiscent of Surfer Blood and Beach Fossils, Jimmy Turner floats from whining to abrasive overtop a medley of pinging guitars and percussion. The song maintains a sense of purpose through the intentionally jumbled sounds, though, featuring the morbidity you might expect from a punk band. Fitting in nicely with the rest of their label-mates on North Carolina’s Tiny Engines, “Radical” is a track worth a good listen
