Isolated Concrete

It so happened that I had to make visits to almost every under-construction building in my town for the purpose of a college project. It was there that I discovered that a different kind of beauty was hidden in those dark, gloomy places. Everything was damp and lifeless, yet huge and lifelike. Everything so silent, and yet so loud.

If he isn’t isolated, something is wrong.”
~ Orson Welles

“But most days,
I wander around feeling invisible.
Like I’m a speck of dust
floating in the air
that can only be seen
when a shaft of light hits it.”
~ Sonya Sones

“Solitude is a chosen separation for refining your soul.
Isolation is what you crave when you neglect the first.”
~ Wayne Cordeiro

“Love can isolate us from everything around us.
But in its absence, we can be filled with the
fear that something comparable exists.”
~ Carlos Fuentes (Todas Las Familias Felices)

“It is my opinion that the isolated mind
loses its purchase on reality all too easily
and becomes prone to fantasy.”
~ Frank Tallis (A Death In Vienna)

“Without the meditative background that is criticism,
works become isolated gestures,
historical accidents, soon forgotten.”
~ Milan Kundera
