Jennie & Duncan Got Married!

I was so excited when I chatted with Jennie about her plans to have TWO different weddings a few days apart. The first one taking place in a location I have been dying to visit – the Isle of Arran.

I have decided that because I love these weddings so much and both weddings were so very different (and equally awesome) that I would post them as two separate blog posts. I am gluttonous like that.

Who would have thought that in a place like the Inner Hebrides that we would manage to get some absolutely gorgeous weather for Jennie and Duncan’s outside ceremony in the formal gardens of Brodick Castle? The weather report predicted that it was going to be absolutely grim and so Jennie and Duncan even prepared a little emergency rain marquee that thankfully got ditched in favour of beautiful fluffy white clouds and pink climbing roses!

I started my morning photographing Jennie and her girls getting ready in the cottage on the grounds of Brodick Castle whilst Matt was with the fellas in a lovely cottage near the town center. The morning was so relaxed and Jennie was in the most splendid mood – mostly hungry and having a proper nosh on a huge spread of food. I love a bride with a  good morning appetite. Meanwhile the guys were busy sipping Arran whiskey – what else do you do at a Scottish wedding?

Jennie & Duncan’s ceremony was so lovely and emotional. So many amazing tears of joy. In fact, Jennie was our first bride to be so full of happy tears on her way up the aisle that her dad turned her around for a few moments. I am pretty certain I could hear Duncan about to faint when she turned around.

Frankly I thought it was going to be the first wedding where the dad did a runner with his daughter refusing to give her away!

After the ceremony (and even more happy tears when Jennie’s mom gave a reading) we had a stomp through the castle grounds. We took some photos in the Bavarian Summer House which is perhaps one of the most whimsical places ever. Seriously – who doesn’t want wedding photos in a chocolate box summer house filled with twigs and pinecones? My six year old self was screaming with joy.

Then we popped down to the beach for a few more photographs (we were on an Island – it would have been rude not to!) and some very sandy slippers.

PS- Stay tuned because in a few days I will be blogging ‘Jennie & Duncan The Sequel!’ ….with bigger explosions and even more hilarity.
