In a press conference that looked so much similar to Samsung’s, LG Electronics yesterday unveiled their latest flagship smartpone, LG G2 which looks almost exactly like Samsung’s Galaxy S4.
At first sight, I actually thought that these guys have brought a Galaxy S4 to the LG press event by mistake. But sadly, I was wrong. This is way worse than that. Sure this phone has all the specs we’d expect in a flagship smartphone like the phablet-style edge-to-edge 5.2-inch full HD display, that big 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM along with the impressive quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and the power of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But, this device has nothing to make it stand out from the crowd. Well, except for those hilarious, minor adjustments and the buttons on the backside of the phone.
GigaOm‘s specs comparison shows that LG G2 beats Google’s Moto X and slightly goes over Galaxy S4, thanks to its’ powerful processor and the battery. However, when it comes down to design, this phone mimics the Galaxy S4 design, even though the company calls this device “introduces new direction in smartphone design” just because they have avoided side buttons by packing them to the Rear Key, which is on the backside of the display. Yes, thank you LG, that’s the only place I would want to look for buttons, on the back of my phone.
While LG G2 succeeds in providing better specs, the phone fails to innovate in design and even those buttons on the back will annoy most of its’s users. Even with these specs and features, the price will be playing a main factor in selling LG G2, alongside other flagship phones.
