Is Android Mobile Operating System Really Beating iOS?

The Apple iOS and Google Android mobile operating systems represented 92% of the global smart phone shipments in the 4th quarter of 2012. While Android mobile OS has a hefty 70% market share, there is a lot of fragmentation that has hindered the adoption of the latest version. Jelly Bean was released in July 2012 and only commands a 10.2% market share of Android devices. Compare that to Gingerbread, released almost a year and half prior, with a 47.4% market share of Android devices. Is this fragmentation hurting Android? Well Apple’s iOS  6 has a 60% market share of iOS devices and has a 60.56% share of the mobile/tablet operating system referrals on the web. You be the judge if Android is really beating iOS.
