Apple's iPhones are much faster now. The iPhone 12 is 11% thinner, 15% smaller, and 16% lighter than the older iPhone 11. There are 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options. The iPhone 12 also has two 12-megapixel camera lenses with an ultra-width of 2.4 and a width of 1.6. It can also take photos in night mode as well as time lapse.
The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 Mini is almost identical to the iPhone 12 apart from the screen size and weight.

With the expansion into 5G, Apple is likely to see a surge in sales for its latest smartphones.

5G boom
5G launched globally last year and picked up speed in 2020. Virtually all of the new Android phones arriving in the U.S. today are offering 5G, and the country's largest wireless carriers have been talking non-stop about connectivity. Now that Apple is jumping into the fight with its 5G-enabled iPhone 12 models, the craze for 5G is only getting louder - even if consumers in countries like the US aren't exactly asking for 5G devices.
Apple is expected to be a big player in 5G right away. This year, the company is expected to ship 50 million 5G iPhones, according to Strategy Analytics. This makes it the second largest 5G provider in 2020. This corresponds to a turnover of less than three months. For comparison: Samsung shipped around 6.7 million Galaxy 5G smartphones from May 2019 - when the first 5G phones hit the market - by the end of the year. According to Strategy Analytics, Apple will be the world's largest 5G phone provider next year.
"There is something called an Apple effect," said Strategy Analytics analyst Ville-Petteri Ukonaho. "Whatever Apple does, it becomes a success almost instantly."
While many people believe their current iPhones can connect to 5G - roughly half of Americans believe they can, according to a survey by wireless benchmarking tracker Global Wireless Solutions - it is not.
