Users found a huge bug in Apple's iOS 14 iPhone software. The free software upgrade that Apple made public on Wednesday includes features that many users have long been asking for, such as: better ways to organize apps, called living programs Widgets on the home screenand the ability to change which default apps your phone uses to surf the web or send email. The last one doesn't seem to work.
A growing number of Twitter users have reported the bug with Apple Standard email and standard web browser options. For example, setting the default browser to Google Chrome will work as expected, and tapping a link in an app or browser will open Chrome on the iPhone. However, when the phone restarts, iOS 14 changes that default back to Apple's Safari.

"We are aware of an issue that can affect the default settings for email and browser in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. A software update will provide users with a fix," said a statement from Apple .
Google and Microsoft did not immediately respond to requests for comment. CNET was able to confirm this error on an iPhone with iOS 14, as was 9to5Mac, which had previously reported the problem. "We expect the problem we are facing here to be fixed soon," another browser maker, DuckDuckGo, said in a statement.
The bug is a reminder that while Apple has publicly tested its new iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 software since the summer announcement, the company is rarely able to completely iron out bugs before it is released.
