Intriguing Ibiza Town

By Thefoodiecoupleblog

Ibiza Town (Eivissa in Catalan), is the largest city on the island of Ibiza. It ticks a huge amount of boxes for those travellers wanting it all – world class hotels, beautiful restaurants, culture and beauty of the old town, an impressive harbor filled with super yachts and a top night life. If you’re lucky you can often catch a celeb or two around the place too.

We spent an afternoon and evening here exploring – a really fantastic place. The newer part of town is full of tree lined plazas, chilled cafes and cute boutiques – they even had a Havianas shop – I was in flip flop heaven! Then across a drawbridge ,Portal de Ses Taules, flanked by mighty statues in roman stone, you enter into an ancient cobbled stone courtyard, giving way immediately on to the Plaza de Vila or main square.

Winding your way up through steep narrow cobbled streets overlooked by quaint buildings and traditional architecture you eventually end up  at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Snows, and there are some wonderful panoramic views from breaks in the high ramparts and the vast terraces at each level.

When the sun had set we set up camp in the Plaza de Vila, eating at La Oliva and watching the hustle and bustle of the street entertainment.

Finally making our way back to harbour, via a few more shops and the cutest Ice Cream Parlour to catch our lift back to Cala Llonga. If you’re visiting Ibiza, a visit to Ibiza town is an absolute must.
