Now, drawn into a mysterious new world and with nowhere to turn, Theia must place her trust in Luc, a beautiful boy who stops her heart with each dazzling smile, but even his unearthly charm can’t hide the truth—he has secrets— dark secrets binding him to his world—an underwater world where Theia will never belong—a world determined to destroy her soul.
~synopsis provided by GoodreadsTell us about your latest book, including its genre. Does it cross over to other genres? If so, what are they?
Surface is a young adult paranormal romance and is also my debut novel. Romance is the tie that binds this novel, but if you also crave a good thriller then Surface will be sure to send your heart racing.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Surface is the first book in a trilogy and I'm thrilled Noble Romance Publishing has offered a contract for the sequel, so keep an eye out for Landlocked in the near future. I'll be posting tidbits on my site and may even tweet a few snippets. I'm also busy writing the last book in the series and hope to be done by this summer, so I can finally tan my ghostly bod.
What is your writing routine once you start writing a book?
For me, the only way to stick to a writing routine is by following the advice of author Alyson Noel, "B.I.C. (Butt in the chair)." When I wander into the kitchen for tea and chocolate or when tweeting seems more enjoyable than my plotline, I recall her words of wisdom and sit my derrière back down and write.
What do you do to recharge your batteries? What truly motivates you in general? In your writing?
This is a tough one, I'm kind of a workaholic because let face it really, I play all day. I love getting up knowing I'm going to make up a whole new world with new characters and bring them to life. I kind of know how Victor Frankenstein felt, crazy obsessed and thrilled when the story comes ALIVE. So when I do need to recharge, I unplug. I have to get away from the screen and spend time with my family. My family boosts me up and I'm good to go back to my lab I mean laptop.
What do you hope readers take with them after reading your work?
I want them to feel the story, more than just reading the words. When they put the book down the emotions of the characters should still resonate within them.
Why did you decide to write romance novels?
I grew up on Disney. How could I not be conditioned to write the romantic happily ever after? I'm a sucker for any guy meets girl & falls hopelessly in love plotline. Love never gets old.
What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?
The clothes.
A biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in six words or less?
Believe
Are there any words of encouragement for unpublished authors?
Don't ever give up. Write and Submit. Write and Submit. Write and Submit. And when the rejection letters come in blast Katy Perry's song Firework. Then back to write and submit. Write and Submit.
If you weren't writing what would you be doing?
Taming lions
