Interactive Ebook

The most frequently used app on my smartphone and tab is an ebook reading app. Recently I came across quite a different kind of ebook app. This app has horror stories of Edgar Allan Poe. But the app does not just present the stories and poems in text form. It adds to the text terrifying images, horrifying sound effects, animations and even vibrations. A very fun way to read horror stories, I must say. The app recommends the use of ear phone to enhance the impact of sound effects. I guess the impact of the app would be even more powerful if I could dare to read it in the dark at night. But no, I do not dare. In the middle of the afternoon is the time I have set for reading the horror tales on this app.

Unfortunately, as interesting as the app is, it is quite heavy on resources. While using it, I felt my phone heat up quickly and the battery drained out rapidly too. Worse, often the pages don’t turn and then there’s no option than to quit the app and re-start it again. Quitting the app isn’t easy either. Pressing the back key doesn’t quit it. There’s no Quit or Exit option either in the menu. In fact, I could find no other way to quit this app other than pressing the Home key and then closing it by using the taskmanager.

I have the version that was offered free via AppGratis. I don’t know if these problems are also there in the paid version. If you want, you can download them from here:
