Last Monday began a life-changing event. For a while I’ve been noticing the tighter waistbands and clothes gathering dust on their hangers because it’s just not that ‘comfortable’ anymore. I continued blissfully enjoying the gastronomic delights that is my life (read in denial) until two things happened: 1) I went to buy new pants and had to take a size up. 2) Regular bursts of ‘Is a congratulations in order?
Back to the life changing part. I started this 14 day Metabolism Reset diet (which I will post a daily account of with pics) and after 8 days I can already see very pleasing results
I said NO to these lovelies, or my protein feasting, water guzzling, egg popping and emotional roller coaster of a diet would be in vain. To make it worse and more traumatic, I’ve never been on an eating plan or diet before!
It started off mildly:
The first temptation came at the end of Day 1. I could deal. When the cinnamon, date, cranberry bran muffin aroma was wafting from the oven, I went to bed. I fought the urge to sneak a banana.
The next night, hot apple crumble with cream. Slightly angry here.
A torturous stroll though the bakery section at Food Lovers to pick up my veg and protein requirements. Chocolate brownies with tiny Astros and a mountain of the best giant cookies ever.
Passing by red velvets and mini pain au chocolats. I was sad, but I persevered.
A slab of dark choc staring at me. I covered it up and passed it along.
Work time no’s
Then the weekend came, and things got rough. There was a celebration to be had, and I had nowhere to run but straight into the mother of all temptations.
A tea party.
Pavlovas
Custard cups
Super light and fluffy cream cakes
Marble cake
Coffee cupcakes (I made these)
Chocolate cake with whipped cream and Flake
Chocolate eclairs filled with cream, banana and caramel
Not a crumb passed my lips the whole day. When Monday came my resistance was low! I bought a box of donuts for guests we were expecting and on my way home, it took all my strength not to have one. This was so difficult!
I can’t believe I got through this week, but if I survived that, saying no to even half the treats that come my way should be a breeze.
