It’s a nice feeling when you finally get something you’ve been wanting forever. Last year, I saw this picture at A Suitable Wardrobe of a man at the Inis Meain booth at Pitti Uomo, wearing a cabled Aran cardigan, a blue checked shirt, and a pair of jeans. The cardigan looked fantastic, but I sadly never found it offered anywhere. No Man Walks Alone, however, has now included it in a special made-to-order buy they’re organizing. Three Inis Meain models, made in any of their 90/10 wool-cashmere blends, and sold in any size you’d like.
I actually have two similar cardigans that I bought from Yoox, and have been wearing them on lazy, cool days. The stand up collar nicely frames the face, while the knitted body makes the garment feel a bit more causal than your standard sportswear jacket. I essentially wear mine like outerwear, though AKC can be seen here laying one underneath a tailored sport coat. I find it’s the perfect garment to have when going out to a cafe in the morning, or when you’re just off doing some quick errands. Good for when you want something to keep out the chill, but don’t feel like wearing a full jacket. This Inis Meain version strikes me as better than the others, as the cabled design lends a bit more visual interest. This way, you don’t have to be forced into wearing a patterned shirt to counterbalance the plainer cardigan.
The group buy is being offered until Tuesday, and I’m told the sweaters should be delivered sometime in December or January. I’m still deciding on exactly which color I’d like, but am most likely going to get brown. After all, I’ve wanted this piece forever.
