I always feel the true essence of a place should survive any renovation, especially when talking about old homes. If anything, it adds character and interest to the transformed space. I think it's pretty neat how these Amsterdam dwellers left industrial traces from the original building to be part of their new home's look. The original steel beams and ceiling create a interesting contrast with their more relaxed and rustic decor. Also, by using wood throughout they softened the austere feel of the industrial bones, adding warmth and coziness to the house.
