Can You Use an Indoor Camera Outside & Vice Versa?
Many people purchase cameras not realizing that they’re made for either indoor or outdoor use. Others buy kits and wonder if they can use the cameras both indoors and outdoors to get the most use of their investment.
- Generally, indoor cameras can’t be used outdoors without special weatherproofing measures. Even then, you risk damaging the camera or voiding the warranty for not using the camera as directed.
- Outdoor cameras can be used indoors, but they may not be a practical solution. Many outdoor cameras are large and heavy, making them a poor fit for indoor use.
For best results, use the camera as directed. If it’s an indoor camera, only use it indoors. If it’s an outdoor camera, only use it outdoors. If you need cameras for both types of spaces, purchase models that are designed for each application.
