Indigo Delicatessen - The Terrace, Another Reason to Visit

By Maneesh Srivastva @urbanescapades

When I moved from Mumbai to Delhi couple of years back, there were lots of things which I used to miss. Indigo was one of them. It used to be our favorite hangout place in Mumbai. Thankfully, they opened here couple of months back as indigo deli, yet I was happy. Indigo deli is famous for their salad, burgers, and sandwiches and not to forget their awesome ice-creams and their famous signature wafer-thin pizzas.
Now they have added another feather in their cap, the rooftop. It is a perfect place to spend your afternoon as well as your evening. Small yet cozy rooftop, overlooking the forest and JNU, is an ideal place for a romantic meal.
Few bloggers were invited for their terrace launch to try their menu which is specially designed for terrace sitting, along with their regular menu. Indigo Deli has always served the pleasing-to-eyes American-European food, with thorough importance given to breakfast. It is a well curated menu by their owner (couple) Malini and Rahul with the help of their executive chef Jaydeep Mukherjee. Most of their signature dishes are similar to their Mumbai outlet. Over a little chat with Jaydeep who loves Delhi,we got to know about their signature homemade mustard which is also for sale along with some other sauces and fresh breads on display. Jaydeep mentioned that, at times, it is troublesome finding the right ingredients in Delhi and hence Chef always puts his creativity to use with what comes freshly available.
Hence the menu keeps changing every day (other than the a-la-carte menu) from the Daily specials.Being a loyal patron of Indigo, it was like coming home. Five of us (The Bloggist team, you will read about it soon.J) reached and settled at the lovely terrace of Indigo deli to enjoy the food and the company. I didn't try soups and salad; instead I focused on other dishes. Their egg benedict was as usual excellent. Grilled platter was something which you must try - succulent and delicious. Lemon Butter Calamari was brilliantly cooked. While you can’t miss their bbq Pork Ribs which is one of the best in town, their pizzas are to die for, specially the Pizza Chorizo. They did full justice to their burgers and the pulled pork was outstanding. Ruben burger too was outstanding.
Chilly Cheese Steak Sandwich and Corn Crusted Potato jalapeno Burger are excellent for veg lovers. You can finish your meal with their excellent in-house ice creams and let me tell you will not regret, even if you don’t have sweet tooth!

Last but not the least, Indigo is opening here in Delhi and you will fall in love with the food here!
