Bengaluru: “India is the world’s third-largest military spender and is seeking cooperation from the Construction Equipment (CE) by incorporating technology and offers the most up-to-date building technologies and machinery to build a strong infrastructure efficiently with minimal environmental impact,” said Engineer-In-Chief, Indian Armed Forces Lt Gen Harpal Singh, said at the ongoing EXCON 2022, South East Asia’s biggest construction equipment technology trade fair.
The second day of CII EXCON focused on the technological superiority in the defense sector Leader and EXCON Taskforce on Defence and Paramilitary Ravi Chawla, mentioned that the infrastructure sector needs to be included in the spectrum of the armed forces.
Past President, Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association Anand Sundaresan said, “In order to promote minimise dependency on imports, India has a long way to go. The private players should design and build military systems in conjunction with DRDO and other organisations to create a robust ecosystem for our military force.”
Ashok Leyland showcases ‘CNG engine H series’ at Excon
Meanwhile Ashok Leyland showcased ‘CNG engine H series at the ongoing Excon 2022, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The CNG engine H series (4 and 6 Cylinders) is designed for off highway/CEV clients and this will be the first of its kind in the CEV/mining and off highway segment.
Ashok Leyland CTO Dr N. Saravanan said, “With the increasing need for better fuel efficiency and use of alternate fuels, we have a solid pipeline of such technologies. We aspire to lead the market in this segment, as the need for engines with alternative fuels grows”.
Ashok Leyland VP Defence and PSB Rajesh R added, “These innovative engines are the latest in line and can be used across various applications for the growing needs of the construction equipment industry.”
In addition, Tata Motors has showcased a range of its high-performance commercial trucks at EXCON
A total of nine M&HCVs (Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles) have been debuted under the company’s ‘Striding towards nation building’ theme.
Both Ashok Leyland and TATA motors have a strong presence in Sri Lanka.
There are over 1,000+ exhibitors from India and abroad, including from countries like the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, UAE, South Korea, Singapore, and Sri Lanka for EXCON.
