The Criminal Investigation Department’s officers at the Katunayake Airport on Wednesday arrested a passenger, who was waiting to depart for India, with a haul of gold worth about Rs 2.5 million and weighing 120grams.
He is a businessman (31) residing at Udappuwa. He was arrested as he was taking the gold out without declaring it to the Customs. The passenger was handed over to the Customs for further investigations.
