For my birthday week celebration in mid-December, I traveled around Marrakech, and got a site inspection of the unfinished Taj Palace being built over there.
Just less than 5 minutes down the road from the Palais Namaskar, it is just as seen in the Sex and the City Part 2 - the entrance is long and grand, and horses take you to the door. There are over 100 rooms, but still many villas to be built. The decor and furniture used suggests that it is definitely designed with an Indian and Middle Eastern clientele in mind. There is a palatial spa, several restaurants and lounges, and multiple suite types.
The hotel will do a soft opening in January, and open completely, as planned, in March of 2012.
