In My Mailbox!

Description
In My Mailbox is a weekly meme created by Kristi at The Story Siren. It is a where we can let the books we got this week flaunt it. Work it baby. Books I Bought:

I went to a really good second hand bookshop this week and found lots of things I wanted to read in excellent condition. I know I shouldn't have bought so many when I have so many neglected unread books on my shelves but I couldn't helllp ittt. You know how it is.                            Titles: 'Wicked' and 'Son of a Witch' Author: Gregory Maguire Published: 1995/ 2005
These two beautiful books are the first and second in 'The Wicked Years' series. It is a tale focusing on the Wicked Witch of the West from 'The Wizard of Oz' and how she became so wicked. I have heard mixed reviews of these books but they were too gorgeous to pass up!

Title: A Series of Unfortunate Events: A Bad Beginning Author: Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler) Published: 1999 This is the first book in the 'Series of Unfortunate Events' series. These books were too young for me when they came out so they kinda went under my radar even though I would have absolutely LOVED them as a child. I have already finished this one and I am obviously still a child because I loved it. Title: The Spiderwick Chronicles: The Field Guide Authors: Tony DiTerlazza and Holly Black Published: 2003 I loved the cover and feel of this book and decided I needed more fairies in my life. Again, children's books don't tend to be something I buy but it was cheap and pretty and about fairies AND I bought another Holly Black book on Amazon so I thought I would check it out! Title: Woman's World

Author: Graham Rawle
Published: 2006
I LOVE this cover...and the idea behind the book! It is made up of a collage of clippings from women's magazines to form a narrative. Looks brilliant and I can't wait to read it.
Title: The Somnambulist
Author: Essie Fox
Published: 2011
Looks fantastic- a book set in Victorian times about a girl leaving London to go to a potentially haunted mansion in the English countryside. Sounds like a perfect comfort read.
Title: True Grit
Author: Charles Portis
Published: 1968
I have been putting off seeing the film until I've read this book as I don't to ruin it! I hope it is as good as everyone says!
Title: White Cat
Author: Holly Black
Published: 2010
This sounds mysterious and gripping and all I am hearing about this series are good things. Will be bumped up the TBR pile for sure.

Title: The Host

Author: Stephenie Meyer
Published: 2008
Unlike most people, I have no strong feelings about Stephenie Meyer. There have been better authors, but there have also been much worse authors. I haven't read Twilight in full but I have read enough to know that much! This book sounds really interesting and as the film hype has kicked in now I want to read this first!
Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Published: 2007
This book is everywhere: everyone seems to have read it! It is the first book in the 'Mortal Instruments' series, which is about Shadowhunters and love triangles and things I want to know more about!
Other Goodies:

Not technically books, but I got these items this week too and I REALLY LOVE THEM! I got a box of Doctor Who postcards (all from Matt Smith episodes) which are just beautiful and even though I'll never send them I LOVE POSSESSING THEM. I also got these pretty notepads- one little one with hearts on (already in use for book review note taking!) and one with Rio on the cover which is so niiice. I don't want to soil its pages with my ugly handwriting yet.
Let me know if you have read any of these and what you thought!
