Malwathuhiripitiya Police have seized seven packets of the ‘Ice’ (Crystal Methamphetamine) drug and 37 capsules from a school canteen in the Malwathuhiripitiya area of Gampaha.
The canteen is run by a husband and wife and only the wife was present in the canteen when the search operation took place. Malwathu Hiripitiya Police arrested the woman on suspicion of drug possession.
The drugs were found hidden under a glass cabinet in the canteen. The arrested woman has told Police that she did not know anything about the drugs and that someone had hidden the drugs there to put her into trouble.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
