"I'm not made of money!" is the battle cry of the nation's Dads, topping a poll of the UK's most common 'Dadisms.'
Researchers have unveiled the top 30 sayings uttered by Dad's across the nation, including classics such as "Waste not, want not" and "Two wrongs don't make a right".
Phrases such as "I'm not sleeping, I'm just resting my eyes", "When I was your age" and "Whatever you do, don't tell your mother" also bring back fond memories of Dad.
Other common phrases used by Dads include classics such as "You aren't going out wearing that!" and "Turn off the lights, do you think I am made of money?"
A spokesman for FOX's American Dad!, which premieres on Thursdays at 10pm on FOX, conducted the study of 2,000 adults, said: "As this study shows, many of us remember our Dads for the funny little sayings they have repeated throughout our childhood.
"These phrases are now ones we find saying ourselves to our own children, which just demonstrates the influence our Dads have on our lives and our upbringing.
"Many Brits recall Dad blowing his top over what they were going to wear, how long they went out for, and how much money they were asking for.
"But some of the most common phrases used by Dads are those which comment on behaviour, tone and chat-back - something any parent can relate to. Much like Stan Smith in FOX's American Dad! The macho CIA agent has his work cut out looking after his awkward son Steve, righteous daughter Hayley and the sassy and sarcastic space alien Roger."
The study of 2,000 Brits shows Dads are fondly remembered as uttering many a grumbling phrase - notably "They don't make them like they used to" and "You could drive a wooden man nuts!"
While Fathers nationwide like to be heard, and can often be found saying "What part of NO don't you understand?", "Am I talking to a brick wall" and "I'm not just talking to hear my own voice".
Dads are also always on the look-out for their offspring, advising them with phrases such as "Don't forget to check your oil" or "Shake it off, it's only pain"
And when losing their temper Dads are known to saying things like "Enough is enough!", "What do you think I am, a bank?", "Don't use that tone with me" and "What did I just tell you?"
Other 'Dadisms' Brits affectionately recollect include "The early bird gets the worm, rise and shine!", "Act your age" and "Go and ask your mother".
Interestingly, 81 per cent of people polled admit they're not using their Dad's old sayings on a regular basis, and can hear themselves sounding like their father.
While two thirds of parents in the study claim they use the same phrases on their own children and 46 per cent of men reckon they turned into their Dad around the age of 33.
But 43 per cent of men are happy to be using the same sayings as their Dad, admitting when they were younger they wanted to grow up to be just like Dad.
And 70 per cent of people say that despite being an adult now, they are clearly never too old to be told as their Dads still talk to them in the same manner and offers the same advice as when they were younger.
Other 'Dadisms' which didn't quite make the top 30 include "Enough is enough" and "Just wait until I get you home".
FOX's American Dad! spokesman continues: "These Dadisms show that our dads have our best interests at heart, offering advice that has been passed down from their own parents.
Although American Dad! is a screwball comedy full of radically different personalities, the eccentric and shameless Smith family are just trying to figure out how to love and trust one another in their wacky world."
American Dad! premieres Thursdays at 10pm on FOX.
