The suspect was paraded by the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, alongside 29 different suspects on the command headquarters on Diamond Hill, Calabar, the state capital, on Friday.
The police have arrested a 32-year-old infamous gun runner, Fobi Kingsley Mbaku, for allegedly conveying firearms and bullets from Nigeria to Cameroon.
He was paraded by the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, alongside 29 different suspects on the command headquarters on Diamond Hill, Calabar, the state capital, on Friday.
The commissioner mentioned the suspected gun runner was arrested alongside Ranch Highway, Obanliku Native Authorities Space of the state.
The police boss mentioned there's a hideout for domestically fabricated computerized rifles, and that the suspect is a syndicate of the unlawful enterprise of gun-running which operates inside Obanliku and its environs.
200 rounds of seven.62mm stay ammunition had been allegedly recovered from the suspect.
"Effort is ongoing to arrest other fleeing syndicate members and to unravel the source and mission of this illegitimate venture. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed ", the commissioner mentioned.
The suspect confessed that his buddy whose title was not instantly disclosed often requested him to assist convey baggage of the ammunition to cross the Nigerian border into Cameroon.
"I have been doing this for over six months. But I must say that I really did not know the contents of the bags I usually carry across the border.
"I am usually paid N10,000 each time I conveyed the goods," he mentioned.
