Whomever would've thought that there would be such a phrase or hashtag as COVID-19 Thanksgiving?
But here we are......
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Because of the pandemic we decided not to travel home to Chicago to celebrate Thanksgiving with the rest of the family. We stayed here in Mississippi, and like most families hopped on zoom, laughed, cried, celebrated birthdays, births, weddings, graduations and Gods healing power.
At the beginning of the zoom as I saw my family hop on from all over the world I began to cry... in that moment I realized how much I've missed them. How because of COVID-19 I haven't kissed my grandbaby since March, I haven't hugged my nieces and nephews, my aunts and uncles, haven't given my cousins a high five, I haven't even held hands to pray afraid of getting myself or someone that I love sick. Today I realized the effect Covid-19 has had on my life and I began to cry.
For months Ive been following the CDC guidelines because I want to live and I want my family and friends to live, but I am tired.. so I cried today.
How did you and your family enjoy Thanksgiving during the pandemic?
