Hygiene Starts at Home

By Shivam Ralli @shivamralli167
"Cleaning your home is much better than cleaning the roads." Well I feel that these words are quite true.  Everyone might know about the Swach Bharat Abhiyan. We all heard our Prime Minister Narendra Modi talk about 'Clean and Green India' . What exactly does this mean? Should we go down to the streets and clean them? Well from what I understood , that is not what our honorable Prime Minister meant.
You may deny this but the bitter truth is that many and I mean it many people are still ashamed to pick up a wrapper or cover lying on the ground and put it in a bin. Is it so difficult? Or is it just because we think about what will the society say about us? Civilized humans have a very bad habit. Before we take a decision we think "what will the society say about this". This habit is the reason why many people are afraid to take an initiative. This can not be changed in a day, nor can it be changed by any one person.
So you will be thinking right now that this guy is saying this is our problem and it can not be solved. So what should we do? Just sit back and let everything continue the way it is? The answer to this question is very simple. Do your own little bit. If you cannot do something major then do something minor, but do something. For sometimes small steps can result in a big leap. Do small things they can make a difference. If you can't pick something lying on the ground then at least make sure you do not throw something.

Is this the India we wish to see?
Remember Cleanliness starts at home. For going out and cleaning the parks is of no use when your own home is dirty. That just means you are doing everything for a show. This can be explained in a very simple manner. Imagine you are going to a dentist for a checkup and you find that his teeth are full of cavities. What will you say? So I believe I have made my point.
Also we tend to do things for fame and recognition. Just tell a few people that you have to clean your surrounding parks and you will get a media coverage for it. You will be flabbergasted by the number of people who agree to do so. Just ask the same people to do something without a coverage and trust me you will be shocked by how drastically the number drops.
So an advise friends please don't do something for the sake of doing it. Either do nothing or do it with your heart. There is no point in you cleaning in front of the people and littering when people are not watching you. By doing this you are not making a fool of anyone else except you yourself. For as Mother Teresa said "Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action."
Hope you all got that message and henceforth will try your best to make India a Clean and Green country. Remember its not how much you do but how you do that matters. So concluding it Varun Vijay signing off.
