After three big tourist days in a row (Benjamin Franklin House, boat ride and touring of Greenwich, Science Museum AM and PM), we wanted a lower key day. So, we decided to walk through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. This ended up being one of my most book-related days during our trip.
Rotten Row was high on my list of sights to see from reading so many novels set in the Regency, but it’s just not that romantic without any horses on it! A determined Regency enthusiast or horse woman could ride here, even in modern times, on a horse provided by Hyde Park Stables
Neil Gaiman might have been thinking of Kensington Palace when he described the “remarkably unpalatial palaces” of London in Neverwhere
Of course, I had to visit the Peter Pan Statue in Kensington Gardens
More photos from our day at Hyde Park and the rest of our England trip are displayed on my Flickr Photostream.
Does Hyde Park conjure up Regency romance plots in your mind?
