Hublot Debuts Red Ceramic

The Hublot luxury watch brand has long been a pioneer in the use of novel materials to create their timepieces. In the past, they have mixed copper and platinum to create King Gold for both color and stabilization. They have used Magic Gold, a powerfully scratch resistant alloy of pure gold and ceramics. They were the first to unveil a timepiece with red-tinted sapphire crystal.

So it should follow that the brand would come up with something quite unique for the upcoming Only Watch Auction. This fifth edition of the charity watch auction is slated for next September 28th in Monaco. The charity benefits the Monegasque Association for Muscular Dystrophy.

The charity uses the color red in its theme. Additionally, the Principality of Monaco’s flag is half red. To honor the charity, and Monaco, Hublot created the first ever high-end watch of red ceramic. Ceramic has become increasingly popular for use in creating high-end watches, but colors have been traditionally gray, blue, black, brown and white.

This bright new color of ceramic is used for the bezel and was developed by the manufacturer. The “secret formula” is now internationally patented. The red ceramic Hublot enters the watch world with the creation of its exclusive Classic Fusion Skeleton Tourbillon timepiece.

This innovative timepiece has a 45 mm case made of ceramics, titanium and a composite resin. Hublot’s in-house MHUB6010.H1.1 is featured in the tourbillon movement. It has five days of power reserve and 19 jewels. The sturdy and sporty strap is of attractive black alligator on black rubber. It is accented with red stitching and a PVD steel deployment buckle.
