To spread the latest smartphone technologies throughout Africa, Huawei and Microsoft have teamed up to launch a new Windows Phone called “Huawei 4Afrika”, a specially designed affordable smartphone for students, developers and first-time smartphone users.

New phone is a variant of the Huawei Ascend W1 and sports the same specs and features including 4-inch 480 x 800 display,  1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU, front and rear-facing cameras, 4GB of internal storage and a battery that can last for 420 hours of standby time. Device also comes pre-loaded with custom locally-relevant apps developed by African developers.

This is the first  part of Microsoft’s 4Afrika Initiative, the mission to dominate Africa, “one of the most rapidly-growing technology markets in the world”.

Huawei 4Afrika will roll out to Angola, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa this month in  blue, red, black, and white color options.
