How We Can Remember Baby Sara and Help Other Children

If you are an Arrow Fan you remember baby Sara Diggle and wish there was a way to get her back.

Well since there is no way of us changing the timeline in the Arrowverse to get Sara Diggle back we can help a charity in her honor.  Arrow Fan, Sarah Dorman, has put together a charity in John and Lyla’s daughter honor.  All of the money raised will be going to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  But there is no better person to explain this fundraiser then the creator herself.  We had a chance to sit down with her and see how what this means to her, and how YOU can help.

What made you want to do this fundraiser?
The complete erasure of Baby Sara Diggle’s existence infuriated me, and many of my friends. Inspired by the many great causes the Olicity fandom has supported, I’ve wanted to do something in Baby Sara’s name for a while. Since Baby Sara is missing and, in my opinion, was exploited as a pointless The Flash plot device; the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children seemed like the perfect fit. As I told Janis, @so_caffinated, who originally suggested I do something in Baby Sara’s name, it’s not petty if it’s for charity.
Can you tell our readers what The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is?
Hope is why they’re here. As the nation’s clearinghouse & comprehensive reporting center for all issues related to the prevention of and recovery from child victimization, NCMEC leads the fight against abduction, abuse, and exploitation – because every child deserves a safe childhood. In 2017, they responded to 10,093 reports of possible child sex trafficking. They provide support to both victims and their families. They also provide training, technical assistance, and resources, at no cost, to law enforcement and others who investigate cases of crimes committed against children, specifically cases of missing children and child sexual exploitation
How would the money that is being raised help NCMEC?
The money would go towards the following categories: missing child case management, exploited child case management, community outreach, training, and information and case analysis.
Currently how much money have you raised?
So far, we have raised $376.
What is your goal?
Our goal is $1000.
Do you have any special giveaways for people who donate?
I have a “family album” page I made and got David Ramsey to sign, which I will randomly give to one of the donors. If we reach our goal, Janis has said she’ll write flash fics (1000 words) for the top 3 contributors (randomly selected if there is a tie). If we double our goal, she’ll double the fics. Same for triple, etc. For people who want the cover art, they can purchase it at redbubble. They can buy it as a t-shirt, a poster, a phone case, or whatever redbubble sales. During the month of March, all my proceeds will go to the campaign.
What made you choose this cause?
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children seemed like the perfect fit to honor Baby Sara.
How much longer is the fundraiser going for?
I picked March because it’s my birthday month and it’s how I wanted my birthday celebrated. The campaign will go on through the end of the month. Wednesdays are $5 Hump Days, where I ask people to contribute $5, the lowest amount the site allows someone to donate. I want everyone to know I appreciate and welcome all donations, no matter the size.
What has the reaction to the fundraiser been like?
The fandom has been really excited, which I’m grateful for. I consider myself so lucky and proud to be a part of the Olicity fandom. A fandom that is so generous, charitable, and wants to help make the world a better place.
